Were there really 150,000 people at the Houston Texas gay pride parade? Paper I need to write for College?

I live in the Houston area and consequently get all Houston stations. The top story on KHOU KTRK KPRC Fox26 was about the gay pride parade that Houston (Mont ose?) had. My professor wants us to write a paper on the "changing attitudes and acceptance of gays in American society - specifically among the youth and in Texas" They estimated that 150,000 people were in attendance. Is there really that large of a gay population in Houston? Like most other Texas residents, I thought that Austin was the gay epicenter of Texas - they have two openly gay state congressmen in the city of Austin and have parades all the time.
