I want to make a really good looking/tasting cake, HELP!?

I want to make a really nice cake. I don't mind what flavor or anything, but i want it to have icing of some sort. I want it to look as professional as possible but without using professional tools or ingredients tha tare hard to find and stuff. If you have some recipes or anything please post them, much appreciated!
