Activities for the blind?
I have Googled many variations of the question "What do the blind do for fun?" I only found answers for activities for young children or answers from offended persons. My son is legally blind and loosing more sight so I am looking for things he can do, so he can feel more involved. I have him set up to get Braille books and tapes from the library for the blind, but he is just starting to learn Braille. It has opened up some room for something other than the tv. The hardest thing for him is he loves video games, but he's having a harder and harder time seeing them. He has three sisters that don't have problems seeing and they try to help him to be a part of what their doing, some times it makes them miss out on somethings and I don't want them to resent him for it. I try to help, but he's 13 and doesn't always want Mommy helping :) . He was a preemie and no one told us that ROP when regressed would risk his retina to tare if strained, well we had a trampoline and he loved to jump on it. Well anyway I am trying to find things that he would enjoy that we all can do and things he can do on his own, maybe even an activity that could help him learn to read braille faster.
